Custom Quilts - Handmade custom quilts from Maine with Online Sales!

I gladly accept custom orders for quilts.
If you would like to match fabric to a particular décor, please include:

paint chips
wallpaper samples
fabric samples
a picture of the room
indication if you need assistance selecting a quilt pattern

Due to the regional and historical differences in quilt names, I will request a picture or drawing of the pattern you have in mind to be sure I produce the pattern you have in mind.

My Standard patterns and price guides are all based on straight cuts and triangles.

The color and style of the quilt are your choice, but I will generally choose the fabrics. I can send fabric swatches on request. If you choose to send the fabric for your quilt, please be sure it is either 100% cotton, silk, flannel or wool. No polyester will be accepted. Silk, flannel or wool may raise the overall price of the quilt. I encourage you to consult with me for a yardage estimate before you decide to send your own fabrics.

If your custom quilt is not a Standard type of quilt, it may cost more than a Standard quilt. Why? Many patterns include more pieces, require more skilled or detailed work, may be based on more intricate designs, or may be of fabric other than cotton (such as silk, flannel or wool). Any increase in time and difficulty or fabric cost will be reflected in a higher cost estimate.

As for the actual quilting design:

Linda Wilcox of New England Machine Quilting is located right here in our shop. She machine quilts all my quilts with simple pantograph designs, and I trust her long experience to choose an appropriate pattern for the overstitching. You may request a quilting style such as hearts, leaves, vines, or flowers. You may also request a separate border design.

If you prefer custom quilting, such as outlines, diagonals or circular cable designs, we can have this done locally as well; however this is considerably more expensive than pantograph quilting.

Custom quilts usually take a minimum of 4-6 weeks to complete, after I receive your deposit. During the busy season quilts may take longer. I encourage you to order as far ahead as possible. Thank you!
